Rome Approves 7 Million Euro Infrastructure Plan for Trigoria
Rome, May 3 – The Rome City Council has approved an urban development plan for Trigoria, allocating 7 million euros for crucial infrastructure improvements. The project, presented by Mayor Roberto Gualtieri and Urban Planning Councillor Maurizio Veloccia, will address long-standing issues with water, sewage systems, roads, and public lighting in the area.
Long-Awaited Improvements for Trigoria
The approved plan, known as the Technical-Economic Feasibility Project (PFTE) for Zone Plan B54 Trigoria IV, signifies a significant commitment from Roma Capitale to complete urbanization works in peripheral districts. Councillor Veloccia emphasized that these interventions are essential for improving the quality of life for Trigoria’s residents, many of whom have lived without basic primary infrastructure for too long.
Three Strategic Phases of Intervention
The project is divided into three strategic phases, focusing on:
- Road and Sewerage Works: Implementation of a comprehensive wastewater disposal network.
- Main Road Network: Construction of a roundabout on Via di Trigoria to improve traffic flow.
- Public Lighting and Water Supply: Enhancement of the lighting network and completion of potable water sub-services.
The entire 7 million euro budget will be financed by Roma Capitale as part of the Framework Agreement approved in September 2024.
Public Utility Declaration to Accelerate Works
The approval of the project includes a declaration of public utility and indispensability for the works. This crucial step will accelerate the procedural timeline, including necessary expropriation constraints for any private areas involved in the development.
Councillor Veloccia stated, “We have allocated substantial public resources to restore dignity to Trigoria, a district born within a Zone Plan but which has never seen the realization of the necessary urbanization works. With this intervention, funded by the Urban Implementation Department, we are filling a void that has lasted for too many years.”
Addressing Essential Services and Resident Concerns
Veloccia further highlighted the necessity of the intervention, noting that “too many citizens have lived without primary urbanization, constantly facing the risk of interruption of essential services like electricity and water. We took this situation to heart from the beginning of our mandate, and today, finally, we see the fruits of our efforts. Thanks to this approval and the subsequent executive project, by 2026, we will be able to put an end to this disgrace, guaranteeing the rightful rights of residents who have been forgotten for too long.”
Timeline and Future Outlook
The project aims to commence works promptly following the executive project phase. The goal is to complete all planned infrastructure improvements by 2026, providing Trigoria residents with reliable access to essential services and a significantly improved living environment.
