On Friday, May 1st, 2026, the highly anticipated ‘Concertone’ will take place in Piazza San Giovanni in Rome, featuring various artists from Litfiba to Geolier, Madame, and Riccardo Cocciante. To accommodate this major event, a special public transport plan will be implemented, and several roads will be closed to traffic, causing considerable changes to mobility around the city.
Road Closures and Traffic Modifications
Starting from 08:00 AM on Friday, traffic will be prohibited in Piazza di Porta San Giovanni, Via Carlo Felice, and Via Emanuele Filiberto. Parking restrictions will also be enforced throughout the entire quadrant. However, it will be possible to circulate along the Amba Aradam-San Giovanni in Laterano-Merulana, Nola-Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, and Magna Grecia-Appio-Appia-La Spezia routes. Roads are expected to reopen overnight between May 1st and 2nd, after AMA’s clean-up operations in Piazza di Porta San Giovanni.
Metro Service Adjustments
The metro service will operate on a holiday schedule with extended evening hours. Trains will start running at 05:30 AM and the last departure will be at 01:30 AM. Due to the ‘Concertone,’ potential closures of Manzoni (Metro A) and San Giovanni (Metro A and C) stations are possible. Passengers are advised to use Vittorio Emanuele and Re di Roma stations for Metro A, or Lodi station for Metro C.
