”DesTEENazione” Opens in Rome: A New Space for Adolescents in the XI Municipality
Rome, April 16, 2026 – Rome has officially opened ”DesTEENazione”, a new dedicated space for pre-teens and adolescents, envisioned as a place for meeting, growth, and inclusion. The center, inaugurated yesterday, April 15, was established by Roma Capitale within the framework of the National Action Plan for Childhood Guarantee and the Inclusion Program 2021-2027, representing one of 60 nationally funded projects.
A Co-Planning Model
”DesTEENazione” emerged from a shared process between the Department of Social Policies and Health of the Campidoglio and the Third Sector, involving a network of 16 organizations. This co-planning model aims to develop services tailored to the real needs of young people and their communities, transforming public funding into concrete interventions.
A Space for Young People
The new center is designed as a multifunctional space, offering young people a stable reference point with educational, social, and support activities. The primary objective is to combat issues such as youth distress, school dropout rates, and marginalization, while simultaneously promoting autonomy and opportunities for growth.
Councilor Funari’s Remarks
“The national funding is important, and we acknowledge it,” stated Councilor Barbara Funari, “but DesTEENazione is the result of concrete, design, and administrative work carried out by Roma Capitale.” She added, “This demonstrates that when welfare is enabled to function with adequate resources, Rome can make a difference, transforming funds into real services and opportunities for young people.” Funari concluded, “Investing in adolescents means preventing distress, dropout, marginalization, and building autonomy and a future.”
The Role of the Territory
Gianluca Lanzi, president of the XI Municipality, also emphasized the initiative’s importance: “This space represents a fundamental outpost for the territory, as it offers young people a reference point and demonstrates that when institutions work together with the community, concrete results are produced.”

The opening of ”DesTEENazione” is part of a broader strategy by the Campidoglio, aimed at strengthening social policies and local services. This investment seeks to prioritize people, with particular attention to new generations and their needs.
