Milan, March 29, 2026 – The Municipality of Milan has announced the 2026 edition of the project “Milano è Viva nei Quartieri” (Milan is Alive in the Neighborhoods). An online public notice has been published, inviting applications for economic contributions to support live entertainment initiatives across the city, with a specific focus on peripheral areas, scheduled for the upcoming summer.
Nearly One Million Euros to Boost Culture and Inclusion
This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Culture, provides 960,000 euros to support cultural projects that will be implemented between July 1 and September 30, 2026. The primary objective is to strengthen the role of culture as a tool for social inclusion, territorial enhancement, and the promotion of economic and cultural vitality within the neighborhoods.
“With the new edition of Milano è Viva nei Quartieri,” stated Culture Councillor Tommaso Sacchi, “we aim to continue bringing culture where it can truly make a difference: in less central areas, in squares, and in shared city spaces. This call for proposals, totaling almost one million euros, represents a concrete investment to support artists and cultural operators, and at the same time, to strengthen the sense of community and social inclusion.”
Two Lines of Intervention for Widespread Cultural Offerings
The call is open to organizations funded by the National Fund for Live Entertainment or professional operators with at least three years of experience in the sector. It outlines two main lines of intervention:
- Support for eight theatrical, musical, dance, circus, and multidisciplinary festivals: One festival will be supported in each Municipality from 2 to 9.
- Funding for 24 widespread projects and events: These initiatives will feature a capillary program across the neighborhoods, with three projects allocated per Municipality.
The granted contribution will not exceed 80% of the project costs, nor will it generate a profit higher than what is necessary for budget balance. A 50% advance payment is possible.
Focus on Community Participation and Public Spaces
Project proposals must contribute to developing active participation pathways for local communities, promote accessibility and inclusion, and encourage collaboration with local entities. Significant attention will be given to initiatives capable of engaging diverse audiences and enhancing public spaces as venues for cultural exchange and growth, with a notable premium for those scheduled in August.
Applications must be submitted online by 12:00 PM on April 28, 2026. All relevant information and documentation are available in the “Bandi e avvisi” (Calls and Notices) section of the Municipality of Milan’s website.
