Naples, Italy – Tomorrow, March 27, 2026, the city of Naples will gather to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the tragic death of Annalisa Durante, an innocent victim of organized crime. Annalisa was killed on March 27, 2004, during a shootout between rival clans in the Forcella district, a neighborhood once considered a dangerous no-go zone.

Forcella’s Transformation: From Danger Zone to Cultural Hub

Forcella, once a stronghold of criminal activity, has undergone a significant transformation. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the association established in Annalisa’s memory and a robust network of institutional, cultural, and social entities, the district is now a vibrant and safe area for residents and tourists alike. A key element in this regeneration is the open-door library, housed in the former supercinema of Forcella, which remained closed for over two decades. This building now serves as a Municipal Youth Center, co-managed by the Annalisa Durante Association and various network partners, who have been instrumental in the social and cultural revitalization of the entire area.

A Day of Remembrance and Commitment

The commemorative event, titled “Famm’affaccià Annalì,” will take place at the Annalisa Durante Library, beginning at 10:00 AM. It will feature a full day of cultural and artistic activities, bringing together students, poets, actors, and musicians. The aim is to invite the community to pay tribute to Annalisa’s memory, which has become a symbol of commitment, redemption, and rebirth for the district.

Program of Events

The day will commence with institutional greetings from Chiara Marciani, Municipal Councillor for Youth and Social Policies; Don Tonino Palmese, President of the Polis Foundation of the Campania Region; and Giuseppe Perna, President of the Annalisa Durante Association.

Giannino Durante, Annalisa’s father, will inaugurate a photographic exhibition titled “The Forcella of Many Years Ago.” Curated personally by him, the exhibition underscores the importance of remembering the past and transforming pain into an opportunity for growth for the entire community.

Throughout the morning, students from various schools in Naples and its province will participate. The afternoon program includes a musical performance by Davide Zito on the piano and the young members of the La Scintilla association. There will also be moments of poetry and art featuring children from Forcella, all dedicated to ensuring that Annalisa and all innocent victims of crime are never forgotten.

The Legacy of Annalisa Durante

Annalisa Durante’s death at a young age shocked the nation, highlighting the devastating impact of organized crime on innocent lives. Her memory has since become a powerful force for change, inspiring initiatives aimed at fostering legality, culture, and social inclusion in areas historically affected by criminal influence. The transformation of Forcella stands as a testament to the community’s resilience and its determination to build a safer, more vibrant future in her honor.

The continuous work of the Annalisa Durante Association and its partners demonstrates how a tragic event can be a catalyst for positive change, turning a site of sorrow into a beacon of hope and cultural vibrancy.
