Naples, March 19 – An operation by the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) between Naples and Caserta has resulted in the seizure of two companies with an estimated value of two million euros. The Economic-Financial Police Unit of Naples executed a decree issued by the Section for the Application of Prevention Measures of the Civil and Criminal Court of Naples against two companies located in Mugnano di Napoli and Pastorano (Caserta).
Family-Run Businesses Continued Operations Despite Bankruptcy
These companies are managed by a family unit operating in the production and commercialization of alcoholic products. The family members have been definitively convicted of crimes including criminal association, tax fraud, failure to declare, smuggling of alcoholic products, bankruptcy, self-laundering, and fraudulent transfer of assets.
The family had been managing two companies in the alcohol and alcoholic beverages sector, both of which were declared bankrupt in 2014. Despite the bankruptcy, the individuals under investigation continued their business activities through two additional companies. They transferred the assets of the bankrupt entities to these new companies, effectively circumventing the bankruptcy proceedings.
Seizures and Confiscations Target Illicit Operations
The Prevention Measures Section of the Court of Naples initially ordered the seizure of the company in Mugnano di Napoli, which operates a liquor factory. This company was subsequently also subjected to confiscation. Following this, the same Section issued another seizure decree concerning the business complex and social shares of the other company, located in Pastorano. This second company, active in the distillation of alcohol, was found to be de facto attributable to the same individuals, although it was formally registered under straw men.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Italian authorities to combat financial crimes and illicit business practices, particularly those involving tax evasion and fraudulent asset transfers. The seized assets and companies will now be managed under the supervision of the authorities as legal proceedings continue.
This action underscores the commitment to ensuring legality and transparency in the economic sector, aiming to prevent individuals from exploiting legal loopholes to continue illegal operations after bankruptcy.
