Rome, March 3, 2026 – A new road safety intervention system for the metropolitan roads of Rome Capital will be fully operational from March 1, 2026. This service is designed to provide timely interventions following accidents, focusing on securing the roadway and restoring environmental conditions.
New Service for Road Safety Interventions
Following the signing of the executive agreement for the framework contract, the service will be managed under concession by a consortium of companies, including Pronto Strade, ACI Global Servizi, and Giovetti Sistam.
Scope of Interventions After Incidents
The service encompasses the cleaning and securing of roads post-incident, even in cases where the vehicles involved cannot be identified. It also includes interventions for managing situations of ‘load loss’ and operations in particularly critical traffic contexts. Additionally, the agreement covers supplementary services such as the removal of abandoned vehicles, road surface restoration, and the repair of damaged road furnishings and fixtures.
Activation and Municipalities’ Adherence
From March 1, in the event of an incident on metropolitan roads, affected administrations must activate the service by contacting the toll-free number 800.007.060. This convention is part of a broader procedure carried out by the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital as an aggregating entity. Municipalities and other local authorities in the Lazio Provinces can also join.
According to Manuela Chioccia, the delegated councillor for Roads, Mobility, and Infrastructure, adherence to the Framework Agreement allows for more coordinated and uniform management of road safety. It provides shared tools for monitoring and planning interventions across the entire metropolitan area.
