On Sunday, March 1st, 2026, residents and tourists in Rome will have the opportunity to explore the city’s rich cultural heritage completely free of charge. This initiative, promoted by Roma Capitale and the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, grants free access to numerous civic museums and archaeological sites across the city. This special day also includes free entry to the ‘Greece in Rome’ exhibition at the Capitoline Museums, making it an unmissable event for art and history enthusiasts.
What’s Included in the Free Entry?
Visitors can enjoy permanent collections, temporary exhibitions, and iconic landmarks throughout Rome. The free entry applies to a wide array of locations, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Special Guided Tours at Palazzo Senatorio
Among the special offerings are guided tours of Palazzo Senatorio on the Campidoglio, which has served as the seat of the City Council since 1143. These tours will commence from the Sisto IV entrance on Via di S. Pietro in Carcere, next to the column with the She-wolf. The route includes the remains of the Temple of Veiove and passes through some of the most significant halls of the Capitoline administration, concluding with an exit towards the Vignola stairs.
