New Vandalism at PD Ardeatino-Montagnola-Grottaperfetta Circle: A Pattern of Attacks
Rome, February 25, 2026 – The Democratic Party (PD) Ardeatino-Montagnola-Grottaperfetta circle, located in Municipio VIII, has once again been the target of vandalism. This latest incident, which damaged the entrance door and identification plaques, is part of a series of attacks that have plagued the political headquarters in recent months, raising concerns about the mounting political tensions in the area.
The local chapter, situated in the basement of viale di Tor Marancia 131, has become a recurrent target. Flavia Finamore, secretary of the circle, strongly condemned the act on behalf of the members and elected officials of Municipio VIII and Roma Capitale. She emphasized that targeting a political headquarters is an attack on a democratic stronghold and a place of civic participation open to all citizens.
Despite the repeated incidents, the circle’s members have reiterated their commitment to their political and social engagement in the territory. They have announced plans to organize a meeting with top Democratic Party officials at all levels to ensure clear and shared support for the headquarters, which they affirm will remain open, active, and a point of reference for the neighborhood in the spirit of democracy, legality, and social justice.
A Difficult Year: Incidents Throughout 2025
The year 2025 saw several attacks on the circle. Among the most serious was an arson attack on the entrance door and mailbox. On at least four occasions, flags displayed outside the headquarters were stolen. Last December, three ribbons were placed to symbolically block access to the circle, which is named after Enrico Berlinguer. This gesture was interpreted as a provocation, adding to a long list of incidents reported by activists.
Fascist-Inspired Writings Fuel Tensions
In recent months, and particularly in the last period, several fascist-inspired writings have appeared near the headquarters. This element, according to members, contributes to a climate of tension surrounding the political stronghold. The latest act of vandalism, which again affected the circle’s door and identification plaques, confirms a frequency described as almost weekly.
PD Municipio VIII Denounces Unacceptable Climate
The Democratic Party Group of Municipio VIII described the situation as an unacceptable climate. They highlighted that the section has always been a territorial point of reference and a place open to citizens. A statement released by the group emphasized that PD circles are historically integrated into the fabric of neighborhoods as spaces for discussion and participation. The municipal group expressed full solidarity with the secretary of the circle and all its members, reaffirming their intention to continue political activity in the area despite the damages and attacks, including those on social media through hate messages that, according to reports, fuel an already complex context. The matter remains under the attention of the competent authorities, while concern grows in the neighborhood over the recurrence of incidents affecting a political space deeply rooted in the local community.
Antonella Melito, a Capitol councilor for the Democratic Party and a member of the circle, also commented on the new act of vandalism. She expressed solidarity with the secretariat, the executive board, and all members. Melito described these actions as unacceptable, stressing that they will not halt the political and social activities carried out daily in the territory. The councilor reiterated her willingness to collaborate with the circle’s bodies, emphasizing that the response to the acts of vandalism will be based on commitment, unity, participation, and dialogue, with the goal of continuing the determined work and initiatives that characterize the party’s action in the neighborhood and the city.
Vigil Announced for Saturday
Meanwhile, Enzo Foschi, secretary of the Democratic Party of Rome, announced a vigil in front of the headquarters for Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 AM, inviting members and sympathizers to participate. Foschi spoke of a repeated intimidating attempt, expressing solidarity with the members of the circle and asking law enforcement to identify those responsible as soon as possible. Reaffirming that no one will be intimidated, the secretary stressed that political activity will continue with determination in service of the territory.
