Camorra Blitz: 14 Arrested in Anti-Mafia Operation in Sant’Antimo

Naples, 19 February 2026 – A significant anti-mafia operation has led to the arrest of 14 individuals in the Sant’Antimo area, as reported by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) of Naples. The arrests, carried out following an order for precautionary custody issued by the Investigating Judge (GIP) of the Court of Naples, target members of the Puca, Verde, and Ranucci Camorra clans.

Charges and Allegations

Of the 14 individuals, 13 have been subjected to pre-trial detention in prison, while one has been placed under house arrest. The suspects are seriously implicated, to varying degrees, in crimes of mafia-type association, as well as extortion, attempted extortion, and illegal possession and carrying of weapons. These offenses are aggravated by the mafia method and the aim of facilitating the respective Camorra clans.

Investigations have highlighted the continued operational activities of three distinct clans – Puca, Verde, and Ranucci – which are active in the territories of Sant’Antimo, Sant’Arpino, Casandrino, and Grumo Nevano. The DDA’s findings have delineated the hierarchical structures of these groups, identifying their leaders and/or regents.

Alliance and Territorial Control

In a significant development, these criminal groups are alleged to have forged an alliance, which included the division of territorial jurisdiction and the establishment of a common fund for illicit proceeds. This pact facilitated their criminal activities across the region.

The control of the territory was reportedly maintained through intimidation, primarily by the availability of numerous weapons. Investigators have also identified multiple instances of extortion committed against local entrepreneurs and merchants, further solidifying the clans’ grip on economic activities in the area.

Ongoing Investigation

The operation underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement to combat organized crime in the Campania region. The DDA continues its work to dismantle these criminal networks and restore legality to the affected communities.

This latest action follows a series of similar operations aimed at curbing the influence of the Camorra. Authorities emphasize the importance of such interventions in protecting citizens and businesses from criminal exploitation.

The individuals arrested will now face legal proceedings based on the evidence collected during the extensive investigation.
