Naples, February 18, 2026 – The process for obtaining residency permits for the America’s Cup in Naples is in full swing. The Prefettura, Municipality, Police Headquarters, and Labor Inspectorate have signed a protocol to accelerate the entry of approximately 2,500 individuals, including athletes, technicians, and accompanying staff. A Steering Committee has been established at the Prefettura to provide guidance and monitoring. Consequently, applications related to the event will receive priority over the ordinary flow of requests.
Eligibility for the Sailing Event’s Clearance
The protocol defines specific categories eligible for fast-track processing. This includes highly qualified personnel hired by ad-hoc companies established in Italy, non-EU workers with service contracts, and consultants with autonomous working relationships. Family members and sports personnel are also included.
“It is in the Parties’ interest to structure and implement a timely information flow,” the document states. Therefore, the exchange of documentation will be swift and centralized.
Team Arrivals and Security Considerations
The majority of teams are expected to arrive before the summer. The New Zealand team is already operational in the city. “This is a complex operation,” observed Mayor Gaetano Manfredi. Currently, no extraordinary security measures are planned. Police Commissioner Maurizio Agricola specified that “at present, no particular security measures are foreseen.” However, continuous monitoring remains in place.
Bagnoli and the Landfill: Logistics Base by June
Concurrently, construction efforts are accelerating. By June 30, the Bagnoli landfill area will be handed over to the organizers, complete with safety measures. Furthermore, the Bagnoli-Coroglio National Interest Site, spanning 1.5 million square meters, remains an active construction site.
