Rome, February 17, 2026 – A new political and civic committee, dubbed ‘Roma Sì’ (Rome Yes), was officially launched yesterday morning at the Sala Protomoteca of the Campidoglio. Promoted by Radicali Italiani, +Europa, OrA!, and Volt Rome, the initiative aims to transform Rome into a more attractive and sustainable European capital through strategic investments and key infrastructure projects.
‘Roma Sì’ Challenges the ‘No’ Culture, Advocates for Progress
The committee’s founders emphasized their commitment to overcoming the prevailing culture of opposition to development, often characterized by local ‘nimbysmo’ (not in my backyard) attitudes. Instead, ‘Roma Sì’ champions a proactive approach, supporting solutions and projects deemed essential for the city’s growth.
“Today, ‘Roma Sì’ is born, a project for the city of Rome that arises in a context where too many local committees and political forces say ‘no’ to the future and to the strategic works that the Municipality needs. We, on the other hand, choose to support solutions and works that make the city more attractive and sustainable, from mobility to the construction of works such as the waste-to-energy plant and the new stadium,” stated representatives from the participating parties.
Key Figures Behind the Initiative
The launch event saw the participation of prominent figures, including Matteo Hallissey, president of Radicali Italiani and +Europa; Roberta Crescentini and Davide Vecchi of OrA!; and Lorenzo Minio Paluello, coordinator of Volt Rome and councilor of the I Municipality.
Focus on Sustainable Development and Efficient Mobility
The ‘Roma Sì’ committee is committed to building a shared programmatic platform with other civic and territorial organizations. Its core objective is to promote sustainable development, efficient mobility, and new infrastructure. The committee aims to elaborate a program that says ‘yes’ to investments that offer new generations the opportunity to stay and build their future in Rome.
“Together with civic and territorial realities that desire a modern and European future for Rome, we are ready to develop a program that says ‘yes’ to investments that offer new generations the possibility to stay and build their future here, ‘yes’ to sustainable development and efficient mobility, even when it means opposing the vetoes of local nimbysmo. We are ready to address fundamental issues such as security with a pragmatic approach and also push the liberal and progressive field to deal with them,” the promoters reiterated.

Among the qualifying points of the project are urban mobility, the construction of a waste-to-energy plant, and a new stadium.
