Milan: Ex-Partner Arrested for Attempted Murder After Brutal Brick Attack on Sleeping Woman
Milan, February 14 – A 45-year-old woman in Milan was brutally attacked in her sleep with a brick by her ex-partner. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, February 13, in an apartment on Via degli Artieri, near Piazza Prealpi. The 43-year-old Italian man, who has not been identified, was subsequently arrested on charges of attempted murder.
Emergency Call Leads to Discovery of Attack
The alarm was raised shortly after 5:00 AM when the 43-year-old perpetrator himself called the 112 emergency number. He reportedly told operators, “Come quickly, I hit her with a brick. She’s in the bedroom.” Police patrols from the Quarto Oggiaro commissioner’s office and emergency medical personnel swiftly arrived at the scene.
Upon their arrival, they found the woman, the apartment owner, still in bed with a bloodied face. She was immediately transported to Fatebenefratelli Hospital. Doctors diagnosed her with a head trauma, and she was discharged with a prognosis of 21 days.
Perpetrator’s Account and Prior Relationship
The man, who reportedly had no prior criminal record for violence against the victim, recounted his relationship with the 45-year-old woman to the police. “We were together for two years, but we broke up a couple of months ago,” he explained. However, the previous evening, the 43-year-old had re-contacted the woman, asking if she wanted to spend some time together. “She accepted. I went to her house around 11 PM. We watched television together and then went to sleep,” he stated.
Despite his claim that “there were no arguments or anything,” the man woke up at dawn, went into the courtyard, retrieved a brick, and then returned to the bedroom to strike his ex-partner on the head. The woman awoke and attempted to defend herself. The assailant then stopped the attack and called for help.
Arrest and Investigation
At 5:30 AM, the 43-year-old opened the door for the police and paramedics, leading them directly to the bedroom where the injured woman lay. Initial investigations suggest there were no previous interventions or complaints regarding violence between the couple. However, the aggressor reportedly has a history of domestic abuse from previous relationships.
The 43-year-old man was subsequently arrested and taken to San Vittore prison, where he will face charges of attempted murder. The investigation into the full circumstances surrounding this violent attack is ongoing.
