Naples and Campania Forge Stronger Alliance for America’s Cup 2027

Naples, February 11, 2026 – The Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples have officially reinforced their institutional synergy in preparation for the America’s Cup 2027. A crucial coordination meeting took place today at Palazzo Santa Lucia, bringing together the President of the Regional Council, Roberto Fico, and the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, alongside regional and municipal councilors. The primary objective of the gathering was to establish a collaborative framework for the joint efforts required to host the prestigious international sailing event.

Shared Vision for a Collaborative Approach

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the centrality of a collaborative working method involving the Region, the Municipality, the Ministry of Sport, and the public company Sport e Salute. This institutional partnership is founded on continuous dialogue and the integration of diverse competencies to ensure the seamless execution of the America’s Cup.

Key Priorities for Event Organization

Several fundamental areas of focus were identified and discussed, highlighting the comprehensive approach being adopted for the event’s organization. These priorities include:

  • Logistics Management: Efficient planning and execution of all logistical aspects related to the event.
  • Mobility Network Enhancement: Strengthening transportation infrastructure to accommodate the influx of visitors and participants.
  • Event and Venue Security: Ensuring the safety and security of all events and involved locations.
  • Hospitality and Public Services Improvement: Boosting accommodation capacities and enhancing services for the public.
  • Waterfront Redevelopment and Urban Space Requalification: Revitalizing the waterfront, particularly Bagnoli – a site of national interest undergoing reclamation and regeneration – and other affected urban areas.

Particular attention was also paid to guaranteeing the environmental and social sustainability of all interventions, underscoring a commitment to responsible development.

Strategic Program for Long-Term Benefits

The meeting underscored the importance of adhering to a shared program, deemed essential for efficient planning, administrative effectiveness, and generating positive long-term impacts. Both parties reiterated their common will to view the America’s Cup not merely as an international sporting event, but as a strategic lever for the urban, economic, and tourist development of Naples and the entire regional territory.

Economic and International Opportunities

Central to the discussion were the opportunities to strengthen production chains connected to the sea and nautical industries, attract new investments, and elevate the international profile of Naples and Campania.

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi stated, “Following the institutional synergy initiated with the Government, we are now laying concrete foundations for collaboration with the Campania Region to ensure the success of the America’s Cup in Naples. This will be an opportunity to expand the transport network, create useful infrastructure for citizens, and generate employment and economic development. Naples will broaden its horizons to its metropolitan area, starting from the coastal strips, as well as to inland areas, to spread the virtuous effects of this great international event throughout the regional territory.”

President Roberto Fico added, “I thank Mayor Manfredi and the councilors of the Municipality of Naples for sharing the America’s Cup project with the Regional Council. This is an important step to jointly define, in the spirit of indispensable institutional cooperation, the steps to be taken in view of a sporting event that will bring the eyes of the world to Naples and Campania, and which will have significant economic, tourist, and employment repercussions on our territory. The America’s Cup 2027 represents an extraordinary opportunity for all of Campania. It is a challenge that speaks of economic development, international attractiveness, and the enhancement of territories, from the coast to the inland areas. As a Region, we intend to accompany this path carefully and responsibly, so that the event is a great success and leaves a concrete and lasting legacy in terms of infrastructure, employment, urban regeneration, and growth of the productive system.”

The collaborative efforts between the regional and municipal authorities, supported by national bodies, aim to transform the America’s Cup 2027 into a catalyst for sustainable growth and international recognition for Naples and the wider Campania region.
