Milan, Lombardy, Italy – MSC Air Cargo is set to launch new scheduled operations between Milan Malpensa (MXP) in Italy and Shanghai Pudong (PVG) in China, with services commencing on March 3. This strategic expansion aims to bolster MSC Air Cargo’s presence on vital Asia-Europe trade lanes and address the increasing demand for long-haul air cargo capacity.
New Service to Utilize Boeing 777-200 Freighters
The new flights will be operated using one of the airline’s Boeing 777-200 freighters. Shanghai Pudong (PVG) has been identified as a crucial gateway within MSC’s global air cargo network and a significant hub for international trade flows. The airline emphasized Shanghai’s central role in linking Asian markets with Europe and other global destinations, particularly for time-sensitive and specialized cargo.
Strengthening Presence in Asia Through Strategic Partnerships
MSC Air Cargo continues to fortify its presence in Asia through a series of strategic partnerships. Last year, the airline extended its collaboration with SF Express by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aiming to enhance air cargo cooperation and connectivity on key Asia-Europe trade lanes.
Additionally, MSC Air Cargo entered into another MoU with Shanghai Airport Authority Logistics Development Co, a subsidiary of Shanghai Airport Authority (AVINEX). This agreement is designed to support the development of PVG as a core hub within MSC Air Cargo’s Asia-Pacific network.

Recent Fleet Expansion and Operational Capabilities
Last month, MSC Air Cargo took delivery of its second newbuild 777-200F, which is registered in Italy under the airline’s European Air Operator Certificate (AOC). In addition to these two 777-200Fs operating under the European AOC, Atlas Air operates four 777Fs for MSC Air Cargo through a long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) agreement.
