Carabinieri Revisit Crime Scene and Company Premises

ANGUILLARA, Rome – Carabinieri are conducting fresh investigations at the villa in Via Costantino, Anguillara, where Federica Torzullo was allegedly murdered, and at the company premises in Via Comunale San Francesco, where her body was buried. These new inquiries aim to verify the account provided by Claudio Carlomagno, Federica’s husband, who is currently detained in Civitavecchia prison on charges of murder.

On Wednesday morning, Carabinieri from the Ostia Investigative Unit and the Bracciano company arrived at the villa shortly before 10 AM to isolate the area and access the home where Federica Torzullo and Claudio Carlomagno lived. The primary goal is to ascertain whether Carlomagno’s partial confession, made after his arrest and validated by the investigative judge on January 18, is entirely truthful. His version of events claims the murder occurred in the bathroom at 6:30 AM on January 9, using a randomly found knife. However, investigators believe the reconstruction of events, particularly the timings, may be significantly different.

Discrepancies in Carlomagno’s Timeline and Mobile Phone Analysis

A crucial aspect of the investigation involves the analysis of Carlomagno’s mobile phone to determine if he contacted anyone before or after the murder. Surveillance camera footage reportedly shows no one entering the villa on the night of January 9 until the early morning hours. However, between 7:08 AM and 7:17 AM, Carlomagno’s father, Pasquale, appeared outside the villa. Pasquale, along with his wife Maria Messenio (a former Anguillara Security Councillor), tragically committed suicide last Saturday in their home less than two kilometers from Via Costantino.

Pasquale Messenio had accompanied his son on the afternoon of January 9 to report Federica missing to the Carabinieri. The new investigations at the villa will also focus on how Carlomagno managed to clean the house of blood traces and transport his wife’s body out of the house, load it into his car (parked in the garden), and then transport it to the company where he buried it.

Re-examination of the Burial Site and Security Footage

In the afternoon, despite the rain, Carabinieri returned to the Carlomagno family’s company headquarters in Via Comunale San Francesco. This is the location where Claudio buried his wife in a corner of a recently acquired plot of land. This re-examination of the cordoned-off and seized area is intended to confirm or refute Carlomagno’s narrative. Security cameras at the company filmed Carlomagno entering with his white Kia Sportage, containing his wife’s body hidden in the trunk, at 7:40 AM on January 9. He remained at the site until 8:45 AM, then left in a van, making several trips before returning to the company around 11:00 AM. Investigators are meticulously comparing these timings with Carlomagno’s statements.

The ongoing investigations highlight the complexities of the case, with authorities seeking to piece together a definitive timeline and sequence of events to ensure justice for Federica Torzullo.
