Anguillara Mobilizes for Federica Torzullo’s Son Amidst Unfolding Tragedies
Anguillara, Lazio, Italy, January 28 – The community of Anguillara is rallying around the 10-year-old son of Federica Torzullo, who was murdered by her husband, Claudio Carlomagno. A public fundraising initiative launched yesterday has already garnered nearly €30,000, aimed at providing crucial support for the boy who now resides with his maternal grandparents and aunt, Stefania.
This outpouring of support comes as the family grapples with a series of devastating events. Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, a custody hearing for the child will take place at the Juvenile Court. This follows the tragic suicide of his paternal grandparents, Pasquale Carlomagno and Maria Messenio, who took their own lives last Saturday in their Anguillara home.
Fundraising Initiative: “Together for Federica’s Son: Support and Affection”
The online fundraising campaign, titled “Insieme per il figlio di Federica supporto e affetto” (Together for Federica’s Son: Support and Affection), was organized by Maurizio Perrone on the platform www.gofundme.com. The initiative’s description states, “This fundraiser aims to offer concrete help to Federica Torzullo’s son, a child who has suddenly faced an enormous loss and a radical change in his life. The funds will be directly disbursed to the family via GoFundMe. The organization will not directly manage the money.”
Autopsies on Paternal Grandparents Scheduled for Today
The community remains in shock, yet is determined to move forward and support the child. Today, autopsies will be performed in Rome on Pasquale Carlomagno and Maria Messenio, who were found hanged from a beam in their porch on Via Tevere. Their home remains under police guard, having been seized by the Civitavecchia Prosecutor’s Office.
Davide, the couple’s other son who lives in Rome, discovered a farewell letter at his home on Saturday before his parents returned to Anguillara. He then alerted his aunt, Pasquale’s sister, who lives nearby and subsequently found the couple deceased.
Unanswered Questions in Federica Torzullo’s Murder Investigation
While investigations into the double suicide are focusing on whether online hate speech, directed at the Carlomagno parents after Federica’s murder, could have incited their actions, the inquiry into Federica Torzullo’s killing continues to seek clarity. Doubts persist regarding the completeness of Claudio Carlomagno’s confession.
Authorities may return to the crime scene, a villa on Via Costantino, today or tomorrow for further examinations. These new findings are expected to corroborate Carlomagno’s statements made during his interrogation. He partially admitted his responsibility, detailing where Federica was fatally struck (in the first-floor bathroom) and how he cleaned the scene before moving her body into the trunk of his white Kia Sportage, which remains parked in the courtyard.
The Search for the Weapon and Carlomagno’s Phone Records
Investigators are questioning whether Carlomagno acted alone within the 45-minute timeframe he described (between 6:30 AM and 7:35 AM) or if he received assistance or advice over the phone. The analysis of his phone’s memory, which began yesterday, is expected to provide crucial answers.
The murder weapon, which Carlomagno claimed was a kitchen knife he discarded the following morning in the countryside between Via Anguillarese and Via Braccianese Claudia, near a waterway, has yet to be found. Despite searches, including the use of metal detectors, nothing has been recovered, leading investigators to believe the truth may differ from his account.
The legal representative for Claudio Carlomagno has stated that his client is remorseful for his actions. The intertwining tragedies have deeply affected the community, with many expressing concern over the immense pressure and grief experienced by the Carlomagno family.
The city of Anguillara, along with the wider region, continues to follow these developments closely as the legal and investigative processes unfold, aiming to bring justice and understanding to these deeply tragic events.
