Milan, January 17, 2026 – An exhibition dedicated to male elegance, titled ‘The Gentleman – Style and Jewels for Men,’ has opened in Milan. The exhibition, which is free to visit in the exhibition halls of Palazzo Morando until September 27, 2026, continuously dialogues between jewelry and clothing to demonstrate how these elements have been used to define roles, status, and personality within society.

Exploring the Cultural and Symbolic Meaning of Ornamentation

Through original pieces, period documents, and clothing, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the cultural and symbolic meaning of ornamentation. It aims to restore historical and contemporary dignity to an often-overlooked aspect of male attire. The objects on display, representative of historical and social events, illustrate the evolution of style through the centuries, offering a transversal reading of the transformations in taste, social roles, and the symbolic function of jewelry in constructing male identity.

Male jewelry, in particular, often serves a practical function, but its layers of meaning are manifold. Ornamentation is also a powerful means of communication, and for men, it frequently becomes a tool to demonstrate belonging to a lineage, a social group, a political movement, or a military organization.

Collaboration and Patronage

The exhibition is produced by the Municipality of Milan and Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine, in collaboration with the Cultural Association Stile e Storia. It boasts the patronage of the Lombard Goldsmiths’ Association, the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, the ‘Federico Chabod’ Department of Historical Studies at the University of Milan, the Ministry of Culture, and Rai Lombardia.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to highlight the rich cultural heritage and artistic expression within the region, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of fashion, history, and social identity.
