‘Life for Gaza – Senza Tregua’ Returns to Naples’ Bellini Theatre

Naples, January 11 – An evening of music, testimonies, and civil commitment to denounce the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and reaffirm the Palestinian people’s right to peace will be held on Monday, January 19, at 7:30 PM at the Bellini Theatre in Naples. Titled ‘Life for Gaza – Senza Tregua’ (Life for Gaza – Without Truce), the event is promoted by the Life for Gaza association.

Following previous peace concerts at Palapartenope, the former NATO area, and a flash mob on the waterfront, the association once again mobilizes the world of culture and entertainment with an initiative that combines art and denunciation. “An evening of words and music of love against genocide,” the organizers explain, “to respond to the urgency of justice. When hunger and cold become a tactic, when water, food, and medicine are denied as a form of condemnation, when an entire people is expelled from their land by force, we cannot speak of war.”

Support for Palestinian Families in Naples

The proceeds from the evening will be allocated to support young people and Palestinian families who have recently arrived in Naples from the Gaza Strip.

Distinguished Guests and Performers

Numerous artists are expected to take the stage at the Bellini Theatre, with the organizers stating that the list is still being updated. Those who have already confirmed their participation include Fiorella Mannoia, Lina Sastri, Moni Ovadia, director Edoardo De Angelis, Eugenio Bennato, Le Orme, Dario Sansone, Calibro 35, Fanali, Daniele Russo, Eduardo Castaldo, Teatri35 – Le Tableau Vivant, the Orchestra Musica contro il silenzio, the first violinist of the San Carlo Theatre Gabriele Pierannunzi, rapper Kento, Pierpaolo Capovilla, Omar Suleiman, and Massimo Mollo, from the theatrical performance ‘Maria di Gaza’.

Alongside the artists, voices from the legal, academic, and international activism communities will also be present: jurists Luigi Daniele and Micaela Frulli, Mustafa Barghuthi, president of the NGO Medical Relief, Luisa Morgantini of Assopace Palestina, Mimmo Lucano, mayor of Riace, anthropologist Ruba Salih (University of Bologna), Maria Elena Dalìa, spokesperson for the Global Movement to Gaza, and Tony La Piccirella of Global Sumud Flotilla.

Live Connections and Event Hosts

Live connections from Gaza are planned with Giorgio Monti, medical coordinator for Emergency, and with Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories. The evening will be hosted by Sara Lotta and Dalal Suleiman.

Tickets are available through usual presale circuits and on Vivaticket. For more information, contact [email protected] or Teatro Bellini at 081 5499688.

Context of Previous Events

This event follows a series of initiatives in Naples aimed at supporting Gaza, including a flash mob on the Lungomare, and previous concerts for peace. The ongoing efforts highlight a sustained commitment from local communities and cultural figures to address the humanitarian situation in Palestine.

Previous ‘Life for Gaza’ events have seen significant participation, with thousands attending and substantial funds raised for organizations like Palestinian Medical Relief and Doctors Without Borders. The recurrence of such events underscores the continued urgency of the cause and the solidarity expressed by the people of Naples.

The organizers emphasize that the event is a call for justice and peace, rejecting the notion of war when basic human rights are denied and entire populations are displaced.
