ROME, December 22, 2025 – The Lazio Region is set to inject 50 million euros into the ongoing development of Rome’s Metro C line. This significant financial commitment was announced by the President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, during a parliamentary discussion concerning the approval of the regional budget.
A Tangible Commitment to Roman Citizens
President Rocca emphasized that this allocation represents another concrete demonstration of the regional administration’s dedication to the citizens of Rome. “This is a further tangible sign of attention from the regional council towards Roman citizens, following the refinancing of public transport and the update of the air quality plan that averted traffic blocks,” stated the governor.
This initiative follows previous efforts by the regional government, including the refinancing of local public transport (TPL) and the implementation of an updated air quality plan designed to prevent traffic restrictions within the city. These measures collectively underscore the administration’s focus on improving urban infrastructure and quality of life for residents.
Funding Details and Budget Integration
The 50 million euro fund will be incorporated into an amendment to Article 5 of the regional budget. This strategic move ensures that the financial resources are formally allocated and earmarked specifically for the Metro C project, facilitating its progress and timely completion.
The Importance of Metro C for Rome
The Metro C line is a crucial infrastructure project for Rome, aiming to expand the city’s public transportation network and alleviate traffic congestion. Once completed, it is expected to significantly improve connectivity across various parts of the capital, offering residents and visitors a more efficient and sustainable mode of travel.
The continued investment in Metro C is vital for Rome’s urban development, addressing long-standing transportation challenges and supporting the city’s growth. The regional government’s commitment highlights the project’s strategic importance in enhancing public services and fostering economic development in the region.
