Demir Orahovac, a 25-year-old man of Montenegrin origin, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning, December 21, after being gravely wounded in an assault in the Trullo district of Rome. He had been hospitalized in intensive care at San Camillo Forlanini Hospital for over twenty-four hours following the attack.

Fatal Stabbing in Trullo: Victim Dies, Investigation Turns to Homicide

Orahovac was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Saturday morning, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite undergoing delicate surgery and receiving intensive care, his medical condition progressively worsened, leading to his death at 10:50 AM.

Carabinieri Investigate Homicide

Carabinieri are actively investigating the incident. Initially, three individuals were detained in connection with the assault: a 37-year-old man and two relatives, a father and son aged 48 and 25. The initial charges were attempted murder, but with the victim’s death, these charges are likely to be reclassified as homicide.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the violent episode is the culmination of escalating tensions within the neighborhood over the preceding days. Investigators are exploring the hypothesis of a vendetta or clash between residents, with the exact dynamics still under ascertainment.

Escalation of Events Preceding the Attack

The sequence of events reportedly unfolded rapidly, beginning the day before the fatal assault. Orahovac was allegedly involved in acts of vandalism in a public housing complex in the area. Hours later, he was treated for a head injury but refused to provide explanations to medical personnel. These circumstances, according to investigators, may indicate an escalation of retaliatory actions.

Potential Clues in the Investigation

Furthermore, on the night between Friday and Saturday, two cars were set ablaze in the same vicinity, one of which belonged to one of the arrested individuals. Investigators are considering this act as a potential additional element of the conflict that ultimately led to the fatal aggression. Orahovac was found in critical condition on the stairs of a building on Viale Ventimiglia, where the fatal attack occurred.

The investigation is ongoing to clarify responsibilities, motives, and the precise sequence of events. Meanwhile, the community of Trullo remains deeply shaken by the incident.
