The second edition of the International Boat Show in Rome has been met with an enthusiastic public response, exceeding organizers’ expectations. Held in pavilions 7 and 8 of Fiera Roma Spa, the event showcases over 120 boats, including gozzi, motorboats, and inflatable boats, alongside marine accessories and water sports equipment.

Organizer Expresses ‘Great Satisfaction’

Gennaro Amato, president of the Associazione Filiera della Nautica Italiana, the organizing body, highlighted the show’s growing success. “As organizers, we are satisfied with this second edition of the Rome Boat Show, both for the recognition as an international exhibition from the Lazio region and for the increased number of exhibitors compared to last year,” Amato stated. He added, “The public turnout on the first day, of the nine scheduled, suggests that visitors are interested in medium and small-sized boats, but above all, they are here to see the production that shipyards are presenting for the coming year.”

Exhibitors and Innovations

The exhibition features over 120 vessels, with many new models for the 2026 market. A common innovative thread among these new designs is an emphasis on onboard liveability and comfort. The strong attendance from the opening hours of the nautical fair signals a potential market recovery for the 6 to 12-meter boat segment, which had experienced some sales fluctuations in the past two summer seasons.

Addressing the Mooring Challenge

Amato addressed a significant challenge facing the medium and small recreational boating sector: the scarcity of moorings. “The problem for medium and small recreational boating is the absence of moorings, and the further south you go in the country, the more this issue creates considerable perplexity for those intending to buy a boat,” Amato explained. However, he noted the enduring passion for the sea, which continues to drive public interest in boat ownership. “Fortunately for Italian recreational boating, according to the government’s agenda, this problem has already been acknowledged, and appropriate solutions are being sought to facilitate the provision of suitable services to the sector and sea users in the construction of new tourist ports.”

Focus on Inflatable Boats and Services

Among the many innovations presented in Rome, inflatable boats (gommoni) remain a segment of particular interest to visitors. Their versatility, ease of transport, and manufacturers’ efforts to equip them with every type of accessory and onboard comfort – including improved below-deck living spaces – make them highly attractive to the public. The event also features a strong presence of service companies, ranging from transport to nautical schools, as well as accessory providers and innovative floating dock systems. Marine engines are also on display, along with entertainment options such as jet ski companies showcasing new models that can be operated without a license.
